Sue was born in New York City, attended Long Island University her first two years and then transferred to the University of Florida in Gainesville where she met her husband, Walling.  Their older son was born just ten days before Walling’s Ph..D. in Electrical Engineering was conferred.  While in Minneapolis, Sue felt the call to seminary and went to Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul.  Walling received an offer from Virginia Tech and she began seeking a call and in 1997 was ordained at Dublin Presbyterian Church.  She served there 10 years before retiring and moving to Fredericksburg in 2007.  Their older son and his wife live in Fredericksburg and their younger son, his wife and their grandson are in Annandale, VA.  In 1995 Sue also helped begin Presbyterians for Faith, Family and Ministry that publishes a bi-monthly, 16-page mini-journal,  Theology Matters.
